Definition and scope of application
This method uses DPD spectrophotometry to determine the total chlorine in residual chlorine.
This method is applicable to the determination of free residual chlorine in drinking water and its source water, and the determination of free residual chlorine and various forms of combined residual chlorine in drinking water and its source water after chlorination and disinfection.
The detection limit of this method is 0.04mg/l and the upper limit is 20.0mg/l.
DPD reacts rapidly with free residual chlorine in water to form red compounds; under the catalysis of iodide, the combined chlorine can react with DPD to develop color, so as to measure the total chlorine, which is determined by colorimetry.

(1) Preparation of residual chlorine reagent and water sample
Put the reagent required for the analysis of total chlorine containing residual chlorine into each residual chlorine colorimetric tube, add a proper amount of water sample according to the instructions, and then tighten the bottle cap.
(2) Residual chlorine colorimetric determination
